Mercy students aged 8 and older compete with Lehigh County Special Olympics each year. They train for a 8 weeks during gym classes so that they are ready for competition. Special Olympics Field Day is a day that all the students look forward to! It consists of track and field events, an Olympic Village with activities such as face painting, carnival games and giveaways. It is held each May at Whitehall High School. Each child is a winner at Special Olympics- bringing home a ribbon for every event in which they participate. Notre Dame Field Day is hosted by members of the Key Club at Notre Dame High School, Green Pond. Every Fall ND organizes a day of field events that begins with lighting of the torch and ends with awarding of medals. All the students, both ND and Mercy have a great time.
