Mercy is a Catholic school under the Secretariat for Catholic Education in the Diocese of Allentown. That affords us the opportunity to pray together daily, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing a patriotic song. Our daily prayers include special intentions for those in need and for persons such as you, the reader, that support our program in a variety of ways. It is not unusual for Mercy to receive a phone call indicating a need for prayer by our children. The faith of each child, both Catholic and non-Catholic is a blessing and their belief in prayer offers them yet another avenue to help others less fortunate than they are.

School age students (2 to 21 years of age) comprise the bulk of our program. Each classroom is unique in its approach to learning and fully designed to accommodate the Instructional Plan developed for each student.

During a recent Middle States Association visiting team assessment, this quote summed up their verbal report: “The serious, professional educational endeavors of your staff shine through at Mercy. You teach the children, engage them in their environment, increase their independence and help them contribute to society. Mercy should shine forth here in the local Diocese of Allentown and throughout the educational community as a jewel in the crown of education.” We share this quote with you because this visiting team firmly believed that Mecy must share our pride and dedication so that any parent seeking out an alternative education for their child will know of our existence.

Our school program offers:

• Classroom instruction
• Work Experience Program offering job coach guided vocational instruction at worksites throughout the community as well as in-school
• Weekly Specials: Adapted Physical Education, Art and Liturgical Music
• Community resources provide Music Therapy, Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapies
• Scheduled trips for swimming and gymnastics
