Led by Mercy teacher, Nancy Peluso, Summer Camp is a four week (3 days per week) camp held from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for children between the ages of 5-12. Mercy teacher, Joan Chapman, leads a similar program for children ages 13-21. The program will be in operation Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday during the month of July 2011.
The focus of summer camp is to participate in social activities both at Mercy and in the community.
Daily activities include: morning meeting, music, craft or cooking, academic review (on an individual level), gross motor activities, lunch and social time.
Places we have visited in the community include: Rodale Aquatic Center (swimming), local bowling alley, movie theater, karate, DeSales University (for theatre performances).
We enjoy therapy sessions too: dance, music, speech and occupational therapy.
On the last day we enjoy a special celebration with our families at Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs for a baseball game and lunch. Attending Mercy becomes a part of your being - it's hard to let go even for summer vacation. At summer camp - we reunite and prepare for the return of a new school year in September.
